MAXTECH Telescopic Knuckle Boom Marine Crane Passes NK Inspection
Nov 25th, a surveyor from Japan’s Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (NK) Classification Society visited MAXTECH’s production base to conduct on-site inspection and testing of a newly completed telescopic knuckle boom deck crane. After multiple rounds of rigorous verification, the Marine Crane successfully obtained NK Classification Society certification; surveyors stamped the equipment nameplate on-site, confirming it meets international marine equipment safety standards. The crane is now set to be shipped to a Malaysian client.
The inspected unit is a 3t 8m telescopic knuckle boom ship crane, a custom marine lifting device built by MAXTECH for the Malaysian client. Its core technical specifications are as follows:
| Technical Parameter | Specification |
| CRANE TYPE | Marine Crane |
| Safe Working Load (SWL) | 3t |
| MAX. WORKING RADIUS | 8m |
| MIN. WORKING RADIUS | 1.5m |
| HOISTING SPEED | 0~27m/min |
| HOISTING HEIGHT | 30m |
| SLEWING SPEED | 1r/min |
| SLEWING ANGLE | 360° |
| FIRST/SECOND LUFFING TIME | ~50s |
| BOOMS EXTENSION TIME | ~50s |
| HEEL/TRIM | ≤5°/≤2° |
| Design Temperature | -10℃~+55℃ |
| Motor Parameters | 22kW 380V/50Hz |
1. Visual Inspection: Verified the deck crane’s metal structure, weld quality, and anti-corrosion coating, confirming no deformation, rust, or defects;
2. Pre-Operation Check: Inspected electrical system insulation, hydraulic line tightness, and the functionality of safety devices (limiters, brakes);
3. No-Load Test: Tested the stability of hoisting, luffing, and slewing mechanisms, confirming responsive, smooth operation;
4. 100% Load Test: Completed lifting and translation cycles with the 3t rated load to validate structural load capacity and braking performance;
5. Overload Test: Applied 125% of the safe load (3.75t) at an 8m working radius, simulating marine operating conditions with a 5° heel and 2° trim – the equipment remained structurally stable, with all parameters meeting standards.

Notably, this is the Malaysian client’s second marine crane order with MAXTECH. Four months prior, MAXTECH delivered a 3t 12m telescopic Knuckle Boom ship crane to the client; its stable performance earned strong recognition, leading to this follow-up 3t 8m custom unit – tailored to the client’s diverse operational needs, underscoring MAXTECH’s custom capabilities in marine lifting equipment.
“From the 3t 12m to the 3t 8m model, MAXTECH’s marine cranes not only match our vessel’s operating parameters precisely but also respond quickly to custom requirements – that’s why we keep partnering with them,” said the client’s representative, adding that more marine equipment purchases are planned for future port expansion.
As a specialized manufacturer of marine cranes, MAXTECH custom-produces a wide range of deck cranes, hydraulic knuckle boom cranes, and telescopic boom cranes (boat cranes) with load capacities from 3t to 50t, suitable for bulk carriers, container ships, and offshore platforms. This NK certification serves as authoritative validation of its product quality and strengthens its position in the global marine equipment market.
“We will continue to deepen R&D in marine crane technology, delivering custom solutions and classification society-certified quality to more international maritime clients,” said a MAXTECH representative. The company plans to further enhance the intelligence and lightweight design of its marine lifting equipment, solidifying its competitiveness in the marine equipment sector.
