MAXTECH Completes Sand Grabbing Tests for 28T Remote Control Grabs, Tanzanian Order to Ship Next Month
Last week, Maxtech has completed key performance tests for 10 units of 15m³ remote control Grabs customized for a Tanzanian client at its production base. The sand grabbing tests yielded excellent results, and these remote control grabs are scheduled to be shipped from Shanghai Port to Africa next month, bringing a revolutionary upgrade to bulk cargo handling efficiency at local ports.
Each grab in this delivery boasts impressive specifications: a volume capacity ranging from 10m³ to 15m³, a safe working load (SWL) of 28 tons, and a dead weight of 9.5 tons. All units are stamped with BV classification society certification, fully meeting the Tanzanian port’s operational demands for bulk materials such as ores and sand. To ensure product quality, Maxtech has adopted a strict quality control process of “full-process inspection + simulated working condition testing”. From the material selection of wear-resistant jaws to the integrated debugging of the hydraulic remote control system, quality checkpoints are set at every stage.

In the recent special tests, the technical team selected 3 grabs for sand material grabbing experiments. The test scenario simulated the actual port operating environment, and the grabs completed the entire process of “opening - diving - closing - lifting” under remote control commands: when the jaw opening reached the maximum design range, the wrapping rate of piled sand exceeded 95%; a single grab could handle 27.5 tons of sand, close to the rated load of 28 tons; there was no spillage of materials after closing, and the swing amplitude of the grab was controlled within 3° during lifting, fully verifying the grabbing stability and load control accuracy. Meanwhile, a third-party inspection agency conducted item-by-item inspections of the grab’s structural strength and hydraulic system tightness, all of which met the standards.
